Latest numbers from the Population Center of Portland State University appear to support the trend that, even after a lengthy economic slump, Central Oregon continues to attract newcomers.
The Center’s annual population forecast estimates that Deschutes County’s population is now 160,140, which represents the fifth largest population gain in the state behind the Multnomah, Washington, Clackamas and Marion counties.
The Center estimates Bend’s population at 77,455; Redmond 26,345; Sisters 2,080; LaPine 1,670 and the unincorporated areas at 52,590. Complete statistics are available at http://www.pdx.edu/prc/home.
